Cape Eland Hunting in South Africa
Eland are the largest living antelope. Cape eland use open woodland, savanna and grassland, may travel long distances while feeding, and can move quietly despite their size. Both sexes carry spiral horns, while mature bulls develop heavier horn bases, a forehead brush and a substantial dewlap.
Why hunt Cape Eland?
Eland are the largest living antelope. Cape eland use open woodland, savanna and grassland, may travel long distances while feeding, and can move quietly despite their size. Both sexes carry spiral horns, while mature bulls develop heavier horn bases, a forehead brush and a substantial dewlap.
Eland hunts often begin with distant glassing or by cutting fresh tracks and following them through changing terrain. Their stamina and tendency to keep moving can make the hunt physically demanding. The Professional Hunter judges maturity and builds a steady shot opportunity suited to this very large animal.
The final plan depends on current availability, quota, permits, selected hunting area and the trophy quality confirmed with you before the hunt.
